Book your first appointment
Your first visit is a longer one. It covers your history, current medications, any ongoing conditions, and what preventive screening you are due for.
Bring your health card and medication list
Ontario health card, photo ID, a list of current medications and doses, and any known allergies. If you have records or a referral letter from a previous doctor, bring those too.
Ask about your records
At that first visit, ask about transferring your full records from a previous family physician. Timing depends on the other practice — your care does not have to wait on it.

Why this is hard to find in Toronto
Finding a family physician taking new patients in downtown Toronto is genuinely difficult — many practices are closed to new patients or keep a waiting list. A practice accepting patients directly is the exception rather than the rule.
It also means capacity is finite. Availability here can close without notice, so if you are looking, sign up or call rather than bookmark.
Ontario also runs Health Care Connect, a provincial service that matches people to a family doctor or nurse practitioner. Registering there and calling here are not mutually exclusive.

You do not need to be enrolled to be seen. Walk-in care runs Monday and Thursday 9:30 am – 12:00 pm · 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm; Tuesday and Saturday, with Dr. Grewal 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, with no appointment and no referral. Walk-in hours can change from day to day. When the clinic reaches capacity, our staff may close walk-in registration early, so please call ahead to confirm before you come. Once you are registered, ongoing care includes periodic health reviews and check-ups.
