What we accept
UHIP
The University Health Insurance Plan, held by most international students and their dependants at Ontario universities.
GuardMe
Common at colleges, language schools and some universities, and for shorter study terms.
OHIP
If you have become eligible for an Ontario health card, bring that instead.
Whether your plan is billed directly or you pay and claim back depends on the insurer and the service. Ask at reception when you book — it takes one question and avoids an unwelcome surprise.
What to bring
- Your UHIP or GuardMe card, or your policy number.
- Photo ID — a passport or student card.
- Your student number, if your school administers the plan.
- Any immunization records you have, including from your home country.
- Any university or college medical form you need completed.

Getting here from campus
750 Dundas St W #11, Toronto, ON M6J 3S3 — Bathurst entrance, across from Toronto Western Hospital.
The 505 Dundas streetcar runs straight along Dundas St W and connects to the University of Toronto St. George campus and OCAD University; the 511 Bathurst is a short walk. The clinic serves Trinity–Bellwoods, Kensington Market, Little Italy and the wider downtown west end.

Common questions
Do you accept UHIP and GuardMe?
Yes. Appletree Medical Centre at 750 Dundas St W accepts UHIP and GuardMe alongside OHIP. Bring your coverage card or policy number and photo ID to your visit.
I am an international student without an OHIP card. Can I still be seen?
Yes. You do not need an Ontario health card to be seen. Visits are covered under UHIP or GuardMe if you hold that coverage. Bring your policy details and photo ID, and the clinic will confirm coverage at reception.
Will I have to pay up front and claim it back?
It depends on your plan and the service. Some insurers are billed directly and some require you to pay and submit a claim. Ask at reception before your visit is booked so there are no surprises — call (416) 681-0444.
Can I get the immunizations my school requires?
Some of them. MMR, tetanus, Prevnar, Shingrix and RSV are given on site. Schools often also require hepatitis B, varicella, meningococcal or TB screening, which are not on that list — bring your school's requirement sheet and your existing immunization records, including records from your home country, and the clinic will tell you what can be done on site and what needs to be arranged elsewhere.
Can you complete my university medical form?
Yes. Bring the form with you. Some forms are an insured service and some carry a fee depending on your coverage — ask at reception when you book so you know in advance.
How close is the clinic to campus?
750 Dundas St W is on the 505 Dundas streetcar line, which connects directly to the University of Toronto St. George campus and OCAD University. The clinic is in Trinity–Bellwoods, across from Toronto Western Hospital.
